exciting times ahead though ABF: with the release of Vista and parallel hardware improvements Apple has to think way ahead to stay competitive ... the gap is closing, its up to Apple to make that gap wider again.
tks aeon - for sixpack joe as me then a no brainer.
anyway, will wait for the mactels, too many uncertainties about the usage of old software on new macs ...
still wonder why apple announces such a switch so far in advance instead...
this thread could be from me, am in the exact same situation:
question though to kornchild:
the nw8240 hardware seems to be safe to upgrade later on to windows vista.
but you think in a year 64-bit notebooks are standard?
question: did you buy the nw8240 with the intention of loading Win Vista on it?
or will you simply buy a new one once Vista appears?
and how's your machine working after the first weeks? glad you went for...
sorry for sounding really stupid, for what I probably am:
but do I need a 64-bit laptop?!
isnt it more of a marketing gig for laptop users?
64-bit offers great advantages for huge processing requirements, but in a laptop?
I really need a new portable workhorse, but dont want to upgrade the hardware again when vista/longhorn is released in over a year.
no need to worry with the NW8240 specs?
tks for some solid advice -
