go and read some dual core reviews... they're all over the web. You can expect much the same relative performance to a Duo as any single core chip relative to its dual core counterpart.
More significant than straight rpm comparison is the model of the actual drive itself. There's a recent review of notebook drives somewhere (might have been on Tom's Hardware) where it was clear that the rpm was an insufficient measure....
