The salesperson probably was trying to sell you a cooling pad. It is not essential, but it wouldn't hurt either. I prefer once since it's not that expensive and can be quite affordable, depending on what brand you buy!

i prefer the microsoft optical wireless notebook mouse. Picked it up for less than $20 a few weeks back at COSTCO. Can't beat it!

i've heard that DELL router's are quite good. The price is comprable as well to the linksys.
