Re the Silex usb server. I can't get videos to play without some stutter. It does seem to drop to usb 1.1 speeds with my external hard drives. I had no success in trying to use an Ipaq cradle. Not tried it with other devices.
BTW you also need a usb hub if you want to connect multiple devices to it.
You could use a usb device server such as those from Silex:
I have a SX-2000WG. However its performance is frankly disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend doing anything disk intensive with it.

You could get a ps2/usb bridge - basically a usb lead at one end and two ps2 connectors at the other.
