I've been very happy with Dell, just to get to you before you totally shut them out of the running. Very few problems, and what problems I have had have been fixed promptly.
I think the niche market for Linux is much bigger than people think, especially since the price of the laptop will be significantly lower without the Windows licensing.
I had a little trouble early on, but I ended up finding a program/plugin that let me change the sensitivity of the touchpad with the Feisty GUI. I'll take a look and see if I can find that again.
My 9300's PCMCIA chipset didn't like to work well with the ZS. After a while the sound started crackling and popping, despite my best efforts to fix it. I ended up returning it.
