Haha yeah the screen problems are a pain. If apple made a decent screen housing it wouldn't happen As far as laptop drives go, I've decided after a year and a half if it's still running I'm suspicious of it.

The iBook would do what you need, and I have over the years found it to be a more durable machine than the powerbook.

It's a nice screen but I agree brightness and resolution are pitfalls. Screen resolution is a bit of an issue with all the powerbooks right now, they could and should all be higher IMO or at least offer other options.

Apple laptops tend to be reasonably reliable. The major concern I have with them is their durability, particularly with the powerbook line. It's not quite what it could be.
