Actually, I have the exact same problem (except with a 5660), the blue screen of death, etc. I completely cleaned out my heatsink, applied some thermal grease, and switched the ram from one port to the other. But the thing is that after...
Do I just plug the laptop's HD into the slave drive for the desktop? No need to install or anything like that...?
Ahhh, help please! My 5660 is crashing again (about once per 10 min of usage)... I want to RMA it but I can't get the thing to stay on long enough for me to backup any files.... AAAAHHHH....
what's memtest?...sorry, i'm stupid.
Hmm...crashed again after an hour and rebooted by itself...
Actually, I already cleaned it, applied the thermal grease and it's back in the sager now...just waiting to see if it crashes again....lol. But it blew out cold (room-temp) air the first couple times, so that was encouraging.
thanks a lot for your help, and I think the 5660 is the same config as the 5620 (at least for the fan-heatsink).
Sorry, this might be a dumb question, but what's the best way to clean out the heatsink?
Hi, I just thermal greased my 5660 (P4, 2.4GHz) with a generic (radioshack) heat sink grease and i was wondering how long it usually takes before the grease gets going and if there's any way to know if the CPU or the GPU is overheating?...
Yea, I went to the school bookstore today and got the software bundle that included WinXP Pro and Office 2002 for a couple hundred bux less than at a comp store Thank goodness for academic licensing.
