If that is the case, I wonder what program he's using to measure the GPU temp, since I haven't found any (other than a Sager utility that wasn't developed for the general public) that report GPU temps for my 9860's Go6800.

If you're not using a RAID array, you should switch to ATA mode in BIOS. In any case, the controller should auto detect between PATA and SATA. Actually I'm surprised you got XP to install in RAID mode.
