when i put headphones in the jack i couldnt hear anything at first. i jiggled the jack around and got some sound to cut in. could this have to do with my laptop speakers?

i still cant get any sound though. i've tried installing the sound driver for the 9300 and it installs but i still cant get any sound what so ever. any suggestions? video drivers installed fine.
it didnt work. i tried the sound driver and installed it and after it made me restart my computer it wanted me to install more and it couldn't configure for my computer.
is there something else i need to install first?
