Tellerve, just because you need a wacom tablet, wireless, etc. doesn't mean you need that associated programs and services that come with them. Do the same thing that cool68rtcharger has been doing with the msconfig. Turn everything off...
Also, turn off system restore. Do this BEFORE your virus scan. If it is a virus, it may be hiding with the restore files. At the very least turn off restore and turn it back on.

Is it detected by the BIOS? If the BIOS sees the drive, it could be bad sectors or a bad partition.
