I'd consider the dell. Its a newer platform, uses laptop processors, and will probably receive the 8800M/whatever. But the sager might too.. who knows.
Seeing as your getting an xps motherboard, it should work. Heaven knows why you didn't just buy a 1710 in the first place... But yeah the t7600g would be a very big jump. Partially because you've got a 533mhz FSB cpu at 1.7ghz. I guess...
Maybe once we get expresscard at 4x or 8x, it'll become viable. Until then, no point. Besides, a home gaming desktop isn't exactly *that* expensive.
In my 9300 (same generation, almost identical motherboard), it will only work with 2gb. When I installed 2.5gb, it gave memory errors and refused to boot properly. Same as with 3gb. So yeah I think 2gb's the limit for our laptops. Bad...
