Yea, my 5720 had optimal ventilation w/ nothing blocking the fans... and it still had severe lag spikes w/ NFS-MW. I think the overall design is at fault ... the unit doesnt breathe nearly as well as the dell xps m170
yea, the laptop NEVER felt hot at all, maybe a little warm .. i was very impressed with that.

I loved the 5720 when i got it, but i had a ton of quibbles:
1- slow dvd-drive performance ... many dvd-burning errors.
2- the horrible hiss everyone's been reading about
3- overheating/lag during gameplay
4- LCD that isnt very bright...

one member purchased a CHEAP $30 usb sound card and from what i can tell it has solved the problem just fine. You can play aorund with volume sliders and see if it can remedy the sitution, but you';ll only get minor improvements.

Anyone else that gets into a similar bind, i HIGHLY recommend you call them up instead of using the online request form ... it takes forever. With calling, you'll play a little phone tag, but...
if you can shell out the extra dough, i would say dell xps170 in a heartbeat. With its onsite support, any problem will be squared away in a jiffy.
I wish i had that with my 5720, it died on DAY 30 of the 30day money back guarantee...
