you can leave it pluged in with the battery in, it does not charge unless it has been used, i have gone a week with using battery and it never charges unless i run it from battery first

i think the dpi is personal pref tho go to a dell kisok and look for yourself, i can barly use my desktop comp now after using windows in such a high res, its been turned into mostly a server box with the screen off lol

usally u can find new 9 cells on ebay for 60 dollars or less thats where id go

personally iv had alienware desktops and their customer sever far excedes dells' i just can not stand thier lappy =)
