AHCI support is in the new series, but not in 9400/E1705, 9300 etc.
Are you guys using rev0 7900gs for overclocking to 600/800? My rev1 7900gs doesn't go more than 600/600 (with 1.24v).
It is most likely a driver problem or the bloated Windows installation it came with. Do a format and reinstall Windows with good up to date drivers.
ALL notebook LCDs (including new or old Inspirons) have 6-bit panels, they can produce up to 262k colors, with dithering it can go up to 16.2 million colors. If you want 16.7 million colors, you have to get an 8-bit LCD, many high end...
Works excellent on 9300 and 9400 if you know what you are doing.
Clean your fans regularly, it makes a lot of difference.

Its going to include 8600M GT, which is not so great for a 17" notebook. 8800Ms are going to be out in summer.
Its not Dell's fault. 8800M series cards will not be available until summer. After 8800Ms are out, Dell will update cards in 17" notebooks, but 15" will be stuck with 8600M series. E1705s came with Go 7800 initially, after G71s...
