The sata is no faster (I have not tried -I've read up on it) as the SATA is actually tied into the IDE bus - so runs at IDE speeds - I read this after putting my order in. The warranty is a 2 year - standard on these ASUS I read.

I got my Z71 for a very good price from DigitalStar. Don't know if they do the Z70 but this Z71 is an excelent laptop (2.13Ghz, 2Gb ram, 80Gb Sata (I know....), 1680x1050 screen, Geforce Go 6600, Intel ABG Wireless card. au$ 2650)
