The 6000 is a great laptop for college. The 9300/9400 is another excellent choice, it just depends on what you want.
I'd get the best video card that can be had.

I have a Mustang GT. For what I paid...
1. TrueLife (did not want)
2. Price (not worth the premium for my purposes)

Remove those three issues and I would have chosen the XPS2 hands down.

The difference in speed is marginal since the 100GB has a huge read-cache. Get the 100 MB and I'll bet you won't notice the speed difference but have 67% more capacity.
I love LCD's. They are easy on the eyes.
I have a 19" LCD I use primarily at home, the 17" LCD on my lappy, and a 17" standard LCD at work. I cant' ever imagine using a CRT again and if I ever go work somewhere that...
