I have contacted Asus support about that feature. I wanted to disable mine because i also always hit them, but they responded that there is no way of disabling (or reassigning) them.....
Fedora looks exactly like RH9. It´s just an updated version. AFAIK Redhat makes it´s enterprise builds on Fedora. Much the same as Staroffice is built from OpenOffice but with extended functions.

On the Asus M6N it doesn´t work AFAIK. I think it´s the same as in yours. You can try to take a look @ http://mrhammy2.ath.cx:81/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 . It´s a forum for the M6N and linux
I don´t know the direct difference in perfomance between the three, but there are other concerns also:
Nvidia is by far the most easiest drivers to install (except for Xfree86 own DRI drivers). Ati can be a little in this.

About the cpu freq. I had some troubles with the earlier bios versions. Check to see what yours is. From 0205a and up mine hasn´t had the trouble. In combination with speedswitch it works flawlessly.

Don´t use the audio dj feature so don´t know.
