lol..... one of my friends at work had this problem and he worked on it for 4-5 hours before he figured it out.... it is a driver issue... just uninstall the sound driver in device manger and download the newone from acer and install it...
try a firmware update... firmware is the "bios" (kinda) on the cd rom. just go the acers website and it should have a download for the cd rom firmware update... Mike

it might be software. but these are also common to go bad.... do you have more details on what it is doing? is it just displaying a blue??? does it say no device? what is it doing not to work? Mike Hellbringer
