Thanks guys. Everytime I try to boot F12 and run diagnostics it starts then says need to insert the CD. So I get nowhere. I'm ordering a new 80 Gig HD off of EBAY. I'll try that then see about the DVD next.
Well I just answered my own qeustion I guess. I took out my DVD Rom drive rebooted and everything seemed fine. As soon as I plugged in my external HD to back up some stuff it froze up again. I cant run diagnostics because it says it...

My Inspiron will freeze at start up about 15 out of 20 times. When it does start it doesn't recognize any CD'c in my DVD drive. If I click on it 9 out of 10 times it will lock up. About 1 time out of 50 trys it will actually start...
