Gosh i see this problem a lot I hope that solution can be found soon!
Unfortunetly the 3600 will not work.
If you still have a dell warranty you can have thme mail you the drive since it should be a relatively easy self install.
Its usually a LG or Samsung display as Sharp no longer does high end notebook display for Dell. Parts are typicially within $500 for such a display.
Peronsal experience it took about 25 minutes to carefull dismantle and clean the system then about 10 minutes to slap it back together.
Have you considered the Studio XPS 13? It has a superior geforce 9500 and lighter/smaller than either choices.
Those are good choices. Im a fan of the Toshiba Qosimo X300 since you can slap large hard drives inside even the bigger 12.5mm types which can be as big as 1TB (1000GB)

Studio XPS 13 I think had the best GPU for the 13.3 Inch region try looking at one of those.
Older generation cards support lower encryption so technically yes but your talking about B generation cards or the early variety so I wouldnt worry.
