Have you got winxp sp2 OS as there is an issue with winxp (without sp2) as it will only recognise the first 128gb of the drive. I suspect that is your problem looking at the age of you laptop.

Dell has released Vista drivers for the 7800gtx in the M170. Check out the drivers download page on the Dell site.

The links from the posted link seem to be broken. It looks like it could have had good information on it though.

If you reformat make sure that you have a DVD decoder on cd as I had real difficulty getting a cd backup of power dvd from Dell. They provided me with OS (winXP media center) drivers dvd burning software and media direct but no dvd player!

A better (decent) sound card would be nice!
