They are quite equal, one or other is the faster. On older s/w I believe 7950 GTX has the edge. 8700 is no way an improvement except support for DX10.

Clear... well, a scaled picture is never as sharp but you can increase the font size in every case. Or get an external screen - I use 22" wide, much preferred to the laptop 17".
