Dell pricing on upgrades doesn't seem to reflect in any way the price of components. Just a way of covering their losses on the headline "standard" models I reckon...
Come to think of it, the 120 C figure was from the ACPI critical temp (126 C) which is where the power to the CPU is cut if it gets dangerously hot. I got this from another useful utility called MobileMeter.
I heard somewhere that the Core Duo is OK up to 120 C. Seeing as they don't bother putting a fan in for the GPU I suppose it's expected to get hot. Mine gets up to 75 C sometimes but I don't think it's a problem.

You'd be better off just turning the desktop DPI to 96 - via Display Properties (right click on desktop) / Settings / Advanced / General. Gives you more desktop space anyway, and I find it better this way, so long as you don't have a...
