It appears to me that this laptop is designed to keep prices down. The DVD ROM drive has a standard slim type bezel. You probably can upgrade/put in any slim type DVD+/-RW burners instead of a specially designed bezel.
Then, how do you know its a new design!
Suggestions: 1. Check any obstacles, such as screw ... package material, in the Optical bay. 2. "Slide" the lock (near the edge) to let the optical drive in and lockin the optical drive?

Life span: Banias about 2 years, Dothan about 1.5 years, Yonah 9 months and Meron less than 9 months? Intel has been doing that since 8088 CPU. PII and PIII notebooks have many non compatible non upgradable cpu clock speed versions. ...

Somewhere I read that Dothan 2.26GHz is equivalent to 3.8GHz P4 CPU, how true is it?

My present laptop optical drive is DVD/CDRW combo drive or DVDROM drive or CDRW drive, what are the compatible DVD+/- DL burner models to upgrade if I would like to make use my present optical drive bezel?
CPU on dynamic switching? Checked GPU speed? Set them to Max performance!
