My 9300 came with an NEC 6650a, I've never had a problem with the sound. Compared to other laptop and desktop drives, this drive is very quiet.

Because virtual memory is "memory" on your harddrive, which is an order of magnitude slower than RAM and when you have 2GB of RAM, you usually don't need any VRAM. I do the same thing on my desktop with 4GB of RAM.

Install Notebook Hardware Control, it allows you to force the CPU to run at full speed when plugged in AND when on battery.

It's possible to replace it with a harddrive (so you can have 2 harddrives in the laptop), if you're so inclined. I've never done it, but it's been mentioned quite a few times.

You could use Partition Magic or one of it's free alternatives. I've used it to resize partitions hundreds of times and have never had a problem.
