first off, its a fixed refresh rate @ 60hz. my 3 laptop lcds i have had showed this fixed rate, two were 17" WXGA (one lg, the other samsung) , the other 17" WUXGA samsung. other than that, i have yet to notice any ghosting...

i just read that through, and the only lifespan it predicts is a moving harddrive, which would not render your computer useless if it quit working. Also, it does not predict a two year lifespan on other computer pieces.
