If your still under warranty, I'd RMA it. Doubt the bios update will make a diff. You set the CD as the first boot device in the bios right? Mabey try reseting the bios to defaults? Let me know how it goes.

You could also use http://www.tightvnc.com/. Then you only gotta hook up one ethernet cable(or none if you got wifi). Just don't expect lightning fast speeds. Better for monitoring what your other pc doing.

Can you read a CD from within windows? I been having this prob on my 8880 also lately, couple reboots and/or slamming the CD tray shut gets it working.

Are you trying to install multiple version of maya on the same machine? Might have to uninstall the older versions to get the newer ones to work. ....or reinstall windows. I'm running Maya 5 on my old 8880/P4 2.4GHz/64 Mb Radeon 7500...

Do you want to back up the dv to DVD or...do you want to make a DVD that will play in your stand-alone TV/DVD player?

This has been talked about alot, don't think there is (or ever will be) a substitute.
