thanks for the suggestion but that only works with nforce motherboards and i have a alienware area 51m 7700 so it wont work, any other suggestions

thanks mrA for ur input , unfortunately though she said there is not a reset button on the button of her laptop. the model is a compaq presario v2000. If u or anyone else have any more advise it would be greatly appreciated.
