You might go over to gsmhosting.com and get the Widcomm stack. I find it much better than the toshiba stack. Do a search and you can find a link to get it for free.
I have Ubuntu running on my laptop with WPA and it's great. The forums have a lot of information on how to enable it. You need to install WPA Supplicant and use a different Network Manager. This should cover it.
