It's Media Center. It can turn the computer on. If I remember correctly, 3am is the time that it hunts for new program guide data...even if you haven't configured the guide.
Go to the Services list and disable it.
I use the Play button on my machine exclusively. If you don't have QuickSet installed, it will just turn the machine on. With QuickSet installed, it will also try to open Media Center.
