I just bought some thermal pads...Sheet of copper...what would that do?

You could also try getting an extension cable and just putting it behind the notebook.

I have an inspirion 9300...love it

Stock...Inspiron 9300...it had thermal padding before, I removed the previous padding, and was gonna just use grease, but it makes no contact. It is on the Chipset I think...not the Processor or the GPU

Can I just remedy this with thermal padding?

Dell has documentation on taking it apart, the processor just lifts out, and drops right in or requires VERY little pressure to put it in But you need a 400mhz processor to pin-mod, 533 will not work.
