The 5720 is a great notebook with a few flaws. Personally I never regret buying it.

I'm a bit puzzled because the Nero that came with my 5720 is version 6 - not 7 ! And I seem to haver the same problem

I think I have the same problem as muki_hiphop !! All the DVDs I burn with the Nero that came with the notebook throw an exception! And I used different brands of course!! I will try to get hold of another DVD burn software but...

I bought the 5720 with a SATA drive and no pre-installed OS. I had no problem installing XP-Pro-SP2 without a Floppy. But keep in mind - I had an up-to-date install CD!

looks great! but it is "Australia only" I am living in Europe but I could get them from the USA, too. But not Australia.

Thanks for the cooling pad hint! I took a look at pictures but I am sceptical. Even a pad expects the laptop to be even and thus it will not compensate for "gaping hole". Best thing would be a battery dummy. But I doubt it...

I have no hiss - but I haven't installed the wireless LAN. Search the forum: either the wireless or the irda is to blame for the hiss ...

I kinda have the same problem as noah5720: I have my 5720 always on A/C. So - like with my last notebook - I take out the battery to keep it from useless chargin/rechargin. BUT: the 5720 needs the battery for physical stability!!! ...
