Received my replacement dvd+-rw drive today. It wasnt the Sony that I took out. Instead, it was a NEC nd-6650a. Works beautifully and all my dvd reading problems are now gone. Much quieter and less rattley too!

Core Duo. My Core duo is blowing away my P4 3.4ghz HT on my work software (photoshop, premiere pro, aftereffects, illustrator, encoding, etc.). It's not even close, so far. For games, the core duo seems faster too.
Very bright. In fact, a coworker was commenting to me that it was so bright that it hurt her eyes, so i turned down the brightness and she said 'much better!'
5400 is very adequate for gaming.
Ewww. I was thinking about connecting a wireless mouse/wacom to the 9400 while it was on battery mode, but this made me change my mind. Hope they fix it soon!
