"Operating System Not Found" usually means that the boot record can't be located. I don't know anything about the Hankos program, does it do something to the boot record?
Wow. You covered every suggestion I thought of. I'm not sure what else you could do. I would of thought changing the power saving options would of fixed the problem. Keep us posted if you find a solution.

Glad to see you figured it out. Now you should post HOW you figured it out, so that other people searching for the same solution will be able to read yours. Did you have a port blocked or what?
You can't configure an Emachine or a Gateway m505. What you see is what you get. One of the reasons they're more of a bargain is because of this. They're not "made to order", hence it keeps costs down.
The Gateway 505 series can't be configured. It comes one way and one way only. That being said, I still purchased one and love it. Too many 8600 horror stories for me to take the chance.
