Currently using Ubuntu Feisty as a dual boot on my laptop and as the sole OS on my desktop.
It is only possible by also replacing the motherboard as well. Not sure if other components need upgrading. You would be better off selling the 5720 and using the money to buy a notebook that already has Core 2 Duo.
I have yet to see a respectable driver for the Elantech touchpad on any of the M57** models. Most people i know either uninstall the driver and use the generic Win XP driver or they install the Synaptics touchpad drivers.
Were Clevo willing to give you a list of suitable drives so that you can pick the one you would prefer?
Just double checked mine and realised i have a slightly different model - i have the NEC 6500A.
