Tripp Lite has a small retracting USB 2.0 hub that they sell on Dell's site...looks pretty nice and compact. I almost bought it but I don't use USB all that much (I try to use Firewire where practical).

I read somewhere that the WUXGA native pixel size is in the area of 150 dpi, though my impression is that most people are comfortable with smaller fonts (e.g. 120dpi). It's a matter of taste, and the abilities of your eyes, of course.
