you bought an e1505. It puts power/performance ahead of mobility. As stated, that's how Dell designed it. What else did you expect?
Many people have the v2000z and have used it without any problems. I play games, encode videos overnight, etc, and have never had any problems. Its likely a defective unit, or possibly a design flaw with that specific processor (ML-37)....
Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA card is on sale at Circuit City for $40 after rebate. Link here Sorry Tek, but the fact is, these suckers have been on sale everywhere. Creative's Ebay store, Circuit City, Buy.com, Office Depot, etc.
Don't go with HP's memory stick. "Compatibility issues" are generally a thing of the past except in rare cases. As long as you buy the right memory (DDR or DDR-2) and get a speed your motherboard supports, you'll be fine.
I get the same amount of time with my v2000z. Well worth the price and buldge and it doesn't add that much weight, like half a pound.
1)Its called a LAPtop, not a labtop 2)SSiemonsma is obviously a Dell Fanboy.
He has a large amount of stock in Apple, but he doesn't own it directly.

There are more factors involved than just RPM, such as disk density.
