I noticed that compusa has the 5672 (the model with XP Home) advertised with 2 gb RAM, which I'm pretty sure is a misprint, but I wonder if you could go after them for false advertising and get the RAM they're advertising.

Owners of the 5672: have you guys had the ethernet problems or checked the RAM to see if it's what was advertised?

I know this is not the issue at hand, but has someone found a source for 2gb DDR2 5300 SODIMMs? I keep hearing people mention about upgading to 4 gb.

I don't think so. If you look at all the ports on TigerDirect, I think that's the one port that it doesn't share with the 8204.

The only thing I need it for is a Alibre design, a solid modeler, and Adobe apps. Really, since I can get 2 gb of RAM on the 5672, I'm all set. The screen rez would be nice, but wxga is fine for $800 - 1000 in savings. I've made up my mind.

Screw it. I've been unsure about this whole purchase right from the start. The availability thing got me thinking that I don't really need all that power. I think I'm going to get the 5670 instead.

I don't think there's anywhere that currently has them in stock.
