I've got the Acer 8204, and like it a lot. It's spec'ed a little higher than the 8202. There are a lot of threads with people having problems with it, though, so you should check them. I'd still give the 8202 the thumbs up in that group.
I have the 8204, and like it a lot. No problems worth agonizing over. I assume you've read the various problem threads. It's a kick-butt notebook. But I'm older, so I don't see the little grey lines or any noise in dark colors...
Well, the MBP and Acer 8204 do not have glossy screens. Not sure about the other models. I believe the new Fujitsu 8210 has a glossy screen option (Clearbrite), and they've managed to shave the weight down to a reasonable level.

Go for it. What have you got to lose besides some time you haven't got it? Assuming you have some other computer you can use in the meantime, and it's not a mainstay work machine.
Removing the Widcomm drivers seems to have solved the problem for me (since yesterday).
