As the native resolution of the WUXGA screen is 1920x1200, it is best at this setting. Just as a thought, if you have font size set to normal I find standard looks better than cleartype, though granted this is just my personal opinion.

The vents on the side are for taking in air so you will never feel any air being blown from them. This is also the case for the vents beside the keyboard.
