We bought a Dell Inspiron computer from best buy ont 8/11/2008. I am having trouble with a driver and want to restore the computer back to factory condition. I called Dell and they told me I have to call the geek squad which I did. The geek squad told me they could help but I would have to pay 169 dollars to get the information on how to restore the computer back to factory state. No disks came with the computer. There is a restore...

I was completely unhappy with Best Buy. I bought a Dell M1330 laptop. I had problems with the wireless. I found out after purchase that Dell products purchased at Best Buy are NOT supported by Dell but by Best Buy. Dell provides free support for hardware or...
1 of my 4 E1705 batteries bought 2 years ago went bad, probably only gives me 30 minutes. I'll use it only as a "backup PS" when power goes out.
Don't get new batteries through Dell for $154; they can be had ebay for $60.
Trust me, if you bought a Dell Lind Auto PS you would now that it was a design flaw, not a faulty PS sample I got. When the E1705 came out, this was the only auto PS you can get. No $25 Chinese ebay ones existed yet.
2 nd time using it on a long interview drive and it was just awesome and it's seems more power efficient as my fuse doesn't blow much.
My Dell Lind auto power supply I bought from Dell for over $100 sucks because it has a major design flaw - the power cable from the transformer to laptop has an unreliable connection and so often you don't get power to the laptop. I use my laptop for car GPS so I need it powered. Now, I tried a $25 shipped made in China auto PS for my E1705 from ebay - got it, tried it for an interview drive - and it worked awesome! No power drop outs and it supplies good power!
You better have Accidental coverage and a warranty! I paid lots for an almost decked out E1705 and bought the 4 year Warranty and Accidental Coverage and the Warranty and Accidental Coverage paid off! My laptop fell down the stairs, and Dell pickup it up DHL overnight, rebuilt it and tested it at the depot in Memphis, and then sent it back to me next day in Bowling Green. Then my 5 other breakdowns were repaired all warranty. I worry when 4 years will be over!
I guess my Dell E1705 batteries weren't the exploding ones recalled. But would they still confiscate my batteries on an airplane flight? Or they'd allow them? Or would they ship them to your home? I'm gonna fly Delta.
How old is your laptop? My E1705 was bought 2.5 years ago with a 4 year warranty. After the 4 year warranty expires, I think I'll get another Dell laptop with a 4 year warranty again! I can't live without my warranty, as I have had an accident repair, screen replacemnet, bad video card 4 times, and laptop rebuilt!
