MY asumption would be that your vid card is going bad. Restricted to lower clocks on battery it runs fine but it can't keep up full throttle.
Perhaps underclocking might help, at least for some time.

Just to let you know a user has upgraded his x700 to a x1900. There are some loose ends (thermal system seems to have lost it a bit) but other than that everything seems fine.

The C90 card has been tried on a number of platforms now, including another ASUS MXM notebook and it didn't fly. nVidia has been unable/unwilling to provide any usefull info on the actual reason.

It would seem "Type IV" is Clevo's name for "Type HE", which in fact is nVidia standard. But don't forget that it is not because Clevo chooses HE that there won't be 8800 GPU's on Type III.
