As far as I know, there's no bios allowing both 512MB of video mem and 4GB of system mem, be it FSC or AW.

MY asumption would be that your vid card is going bad. Restricted to lower clocks on battery it runs fine but it can't keep up full throttle. Perhaps underclocking might help, at least for some time.

It would seem "Type IV" is Clevo's name for "Type HE", which in fact is nVidia standard. But don't forget that it is not because Clevo chooses HE that there won't be 8800 GPU's on Type III.
