why yes. yes it does.

do you have it OC'ed? are you running the fans at full blast while playing? are your vents getting enough airflow?

you will get a post error without the HDD and you can get into the mobo settings without it. but thats it. but that doesnt really prove anything. It sounds like a bad drive.
