Yeah..bought that, did not fit. Anyone else have any ideas and/or had to replace the DC jack?
Anyone know where I can find a replacement DC jack for a XPS m1730 The on I purchased was stated that it worked for my laptop but the hole is not the correct size.
trick is to boot the laptop without the AC adapter. After booting then plug it in. Jiggling the cable on my laptop will sometimes push the CPU up to the right speed. But of course im a windows guy.
No my warranty is long gone. I'd hate to just buy a new adapter and find out its the DC joint on the Motherboard. 1. Buy a new DC Joint ( I hear there are 2 variations? ) I'd probably have to solder this or find someone to do it 2....
My guess: Your DC joint or AC Adapter is bad. When Dell's cant detect the power supply it always runs at the lowest speed. On my old 9300 I used to use Notebook Hardware control and force the speed to max.
Yes, Im pretty much keeping my XPS alive by baking the graphics card. Pretty much once a month I have to leave it in the oven. 12 mins bake time @ 380 degrees let sit for 20 mins. Have to take off heatsinkeetc. Smells real bad,...
holy crap, it worked, 10 minutes on 380, let sit for 20 minutes, granted this is a band aid type fix, but it worked... 2 hours so far so good, dont know how long it will last tho..
I'm one of the poor victims with a broken 8800m GTX, one of the cores has failed. Error code 43 in device manager. I've heard of this technique, now i'm no Martha Stewart. 1. Has anyone tried this? 2. 350 degress 10 minutes? ...
You were in a better posistion, my Dell Warranty ran out, I had to do "out of warranty repair" I highly doubt they will give me a replacement.
3 weeks back order on the 8800m GTX, $1200 for the part from Dell. That sound about right?
