Are you sure it's a bios problem? If the on/off connector is unplugged maybe the bios "locks" itself into reading the last card it had... try unplugging it and swapping a 6800 and 7800 in a Gen2 to see if that can be...
is it possible to test the bios fuctionality by trying: 1) a 6800 in the lappy 2) unplug the power addapter 3) install a 7800 4) reboot with the 7800 (and disconnected power connector) to see if the bios reccognizes the new 7800...
check in your device manager the; primary ide channel poperties= advanced settings = it should be DMA 5 or 6 i had terible troubles when it was set too low...games were very "glitchy" oh well just an idea
ok it works but at 1.596V it gets a bit hot, 79C but runs prime ok i re-silvered the cpu but it's the same temp so that's not it... at 1.580V it runs prime ok but still hot 77C or so & i can't lower the voltage anymore or...

Mr K6 saw the update; is there any way you could post the: pin mods to voltages... in a chart from 1.388-->1.7xx so we can understand the pin/mod/voltage/chart? this would be nice...
thaddyusmaximus, ya in the device manager it's in the IDE/ATAPI controllers Primary or Secondary IDE Channel setting>right mouse click-Properties> Advanced settings---> choose DMA instead of PIO MR K6 - still wondering...
ok ...vid4 is where i'll start are the next mods up? vid4=1.596volts ===> vid4+vid0=1.612V vid4+vid1=1.628V vid4+vid0+vid1=1.644V vid4+vid2=1.660V leaving out pins vid3 & vid5 i don't get it K6 mentioned not...
i wanted to try the 2.0@2.66 mod i killed my last 2.0 chip the new one should be here monday or so---that's why i want the upper volt "vid-x" mods required... my 1.8@2.4 ran prime95 for 33.90hours at 1.42Volts......
