My laptop is not dual core. Its a regular Pent M. 2.0 Ghz .
But at least you know that if you go with an Intel cpu, any Intel cpu, you are likely to get a whiner.
Those Sony SZ's are looking pretty snazzy, but you will need to sell a kidney and a chunk of your liver (don't worry this grows back, just in time when you're ready to upgrade to the newer Sony models) to afford it.
If other Dell owners are experiencing it, then I think you have your answer.
If its really that bothersome then return for exchange or refund. My z70Va whines but I've learned to live with it. Its amazing how quickly you learn to tune...
