Yes, the 115 threshold is the max for the GTX. Don't let your Go get that hot . Also, make sure you've wiped the crummy factory thermal compound off the GPU and put on some AS5. The difference in your 3DMark05 score is less than 1%...
It's safe, but be sure you're very comfortable with the process. I used a bootable USB flash drive with an autoexec.bat which allowed me to simply press the "y" button if it didn't work or I screwed it up. It came in handy...
