Old thread but it might help someone else. I was having the same issues and sent it back to Sager for repair and it turned out that the contacts just needed to be re-soldered and everything was working again.

Any updates on this? I think my Promise controller just bit the dust as well. Sometimes it will show up and Detect the drive and will show up in the BIOS, but most of the time it won't. Even if it does show up it may load the OS...
