ha okay, so you think dust is the enemy. thanks for the help, hopefully everything runs smoothly now. I guess i'll try cleaning out the dust every couple months or so.

I hope saying that made you feel cool. I've never opened up a computer before, just thought I might be able to get some friendly help on here. But I can see you're too high up on your computer dork pedistal for that.
what is the "heatsink?" will I be able to recognize it and figure out how to take it out/put it back in?
i use it on a solid surface...my desk.

well, unfortunately I'm not on it at the moment...I'm at work on my work laptop. mine's a toshiba satellite...um, 40GB harddrive, 512 RAM....what else can I say?
