Know this is a old thread but it's not uncalled for for a vendor to say do with as described above to SAVE A SALE. Think about it, customer has a order in for a dv6000z that they will be making many hundreds of dollars profit on.......

That "might" be in the MAINTANCE and SERVICE GUIDE for your unit that can be downloaded from HP. Type in your model number, and look thu the documents, white papers... Addtionally that should be on the A/C brick itself....
